He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what the Lord requires of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8 [KJV]
The Women’s Missionary Society NGO, is engaged in some of the most difficult and challenging work of our time. We are faced with COVID-19, socially distanced barriers, economic uncertainty, and myriad social advocacy issues calling for the adaptation of new and innovative ministries.
We are called to address the global violation of human trafficking and gender-based violence. We believe God will continually restore us to do the work with a spirit that speaks to words from Micah 6:8. This is God’s restorative work in action that promises while we are socially distanced from each other, we are not socially distanced from God and the international calling for a time such as this!
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Human trafficking is the criminal act of recruiting, harboring and transporting people through the use of deception, coercion, and violence. According to the United Nations on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Agency, "Millions of women, children and men worldwide are out of work, out of school and without social support in the continuing COVID-19 crisis, leaving them at greater risk of human trafficking". This means that the problem is getting worse and needs to be addressed.
Domestic violence is physical, sexual, emotional and economic abuse. Human Trafficking is the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type sexual labor
