The Electrifying 11th Episcopal District AMEC-WMS under the former dynamic leadership of Bishop Adam
J. Richardson, Jr. Senior Bishop, Dr. Connie Speights Richardson, Senior Supervisor, and Mrs. Laurastine D. Lemon, Episcopal WMS President launched the episcopal district theme: “Intentional About Ministry,” and addressed the NGO Sustainable Development Goals throughout Florida and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. We began working on The NGO initiative for 2021 - Human Trafficking, the tagline: “Stolen People, Stolen Dreams.”
Intentional Goals
Goals 5, 8, and 16 addressed human trafficking. All conferences have been continually committed to expanding the work of missions through: Goal #1 No Poverty, Goal #2 Zero Equality, Goal #8 Decent Work and Economic Growth and Goal # 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
The leadership of the Richardson’s team has been “intentional” from “generation to generation” in their commitment to the Eleventh District. Well wishes of blessings and success in the 10th Episcopal District are extended to the Richardson’s! As we venture forward, Florida and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas welcome Bishop Frank Madison Reid, III and Supervisor Marlaa’ Hall-Reid to the “Electrifying” Eleventh District.
Mrs. Frances Howard, 11th Episcopal District outgoing NGO Representative is now serving as the Central Conference WMS President. I am excited and appreciative of my NGO Episcopal appointment by our Episcopal leaders. Each conference president is creating activities regarding the NGO Tag Themes, conducting workshops, distributing NGO flyers, and participating in letter-writing campaigns to our elected officials on all levels. These activities are ongoing: CSW65 2021- (Commission on the Status of Women), ECOSOC – United Nations Economic and Social Council, Ecumenical Women Presentation, NGO Conference updates, discussions on moving the NGO back to New York, and H.R.509 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): Human Trafficking Accountability Act |https://www.congress.govb/ill/116th-congress/house- bill/509.
