Areas of Focus

The 1st District NGO was dedicated to embarking on a mission of advocacy for God’s people, ensuring no one was left behind. We promoted justice and mercy and supported human rights by attending and participating in conferences, raising awareness, raising funds, and praying without ceasing.

Achievements


We raised more than $5,000 for the NGO Fistula Campaign

● New England Conference $2,500

● New York Conference $1,500

● Philadelphia $1,500

In partnership with United Nations on the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDG’s) we joined the 67th Virtual Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations, March 6 thru March 17, 2023. The theme for CSW67 was Innovation and Technological Change with a focus on education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

● NGO CSW Consultation Day - CSW67 & Generation Equality: Committing to achieving global gender equability.

● Our very own Evangelist Carolyn Clemons/Connectional NGO Alt Representative presented a meditation at the Ecumenical Women Meeting Her topic was “What does scripture tell us about the women in the Bible.”

o The New Jersey Conference YPD Annual Day Mission Project was geared towards helping teen mothers. This year’s donation was given to the West Side High School’s Baby Pantry. The baby pantry was started about 9 Years ago by its director Ramona Thomas. The program has grown to servicing the Newark community monthly.


o The Philadelphia Conference WMS provided a trunk load of donations and gave a monetary donation to Redeemed for A Cause which is a Christian based non-profit that helps prevent human trafficking in the Philadelphia Area. Sakinah Love is the Founder and Executive Director.


o Delaware Conference Women’s Missionary Society introduced the Domestic Violence Awareness Sunday

Domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, yet the problem is often overlooked, excused, or denied.


o The New England Conference – The Stamford Area WMS and other Areas had Fistula Zoom a Thons


o The New York Conference

● Donated $13,222 to the First District WMS “Faith Walk” Campaign.

● Participated in wearing our Stop-the-Gun-Violence T-shirts and sending photos to the District and Connectional WMS.

● Sponsored a 24hr Prayer-Vigil for “Stop the Gun Violence


Moving forward the 1st District NGO will submit a picturesque article to the Missionary Magazine. We will support Districts 14 to 20 in their campaign to promote sanitation and wellbeing, by creating and donating handmade feminine napkins.
