Areas of Focus

  1. SDG#16: Human Trafficking and gender-based violence: Through education and information dissemination we promote awareness of the prevalence of gender-based violence and human trafficking. We seek to empower affected and vulnerable individuals with knowledge and information for prevention and protection.
  2. SDG#2 Fighting hunger : We promote healthy eating and food security by encouraging small scale food gardening. Where necessary and viable we participate in mobilizing donations of food.
  3. SDG#3: Health, with a focus on women: Focus on diseases that primarily attack women such as Obstetric Fistula, we disseminate information to promote awareness and appropriate behavior/action.

Special Projects / Activities

Continued to disseminate information (created and distributed a poster together with materials sourced from the public domain) and encouraged/participated in discussions on Gender-based-violence in and outside the church.

Through the office of the district’s 1st Vice President distributed seed and seedlings and continue to encourage members to establish backyard food gardens in homes, church, and community spaces; This to help combat desperate hunger that often places women and children in a vulnerable position as real and/or potential victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

Donated food and other necessities at various locations as part of our fight against hunger.

Disseminated information by posters & other public domain materials to educate Obstetric Fistula and encouraged women to use available health facilities to prevent/reduce the occurrence of Fistula.

 The Future / Action Plan

All the work is ongoing, and this being such a short year some of the activities will be continuing throughout the year, making use of national and church calendars as well as other opportunities to act.

In the immediate term we have plans to continue drives to mobilize donations of food and will again have information drives on Human Trafficking to help highlight the issue and inform our communities on where to go for help/support.

Thanks to everyone in TEAM 19th ED for the opportunity to be part of this work: much appreciation for the unwavering supports of Supervisor Brailsford and President Sister Mosuwe; I am also grateful for the partnership of 1st Vice President Sis. Jabu Mashinini and each Conference 1st Vice Presidents, as well.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done.

In His Service,
