The Eighth Episcopal District continues to participate in activities, such as meetings, workshops and Prayer Vigils that denounce violence of any kind, whether random, domestic or gender based. We also support worldwide initiatives for the betterment of humanity by exercising the Sustainable Development goals with emphasis on Goal 2 & 8.
Accomplishments:
Goal 2: Missionaries have contributed to local food banks, provided food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Also participated in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day and Bread for the World initiatives.
Goal 3: Partnered with various agencies to prevent and/or recover victims of Human Trafficking; delivered duffle bags to Children’s homes to be utilized by youth who have been impacted by human trafficking. Held prayer vigil to ‘Stop the Gun Violence’; Contributed to Save the Children and Fistula
Campaigns; Continued to encourage persons to get COVID vaccinations; Held health fairs in all parts of the 8th Episcopal District. Donated gently used eyeglasses to assist persons in need of corrective eyewear; raised awareness of Breast Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Health, Lung Cancer, Blood Pressure monitoring, and held conversations on Black Women’s mental health. We also partnered with Little Dresses for Africa.
Goal 8: Missionaries have partnered with Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and donated gently used professional attire for young people entering the workforce.
