Areas of Focus

The District NGO Liaison was nominated for the very first time just two years back, hence a lot of teething problems experienced. Conferences struggled to put in place NGO Liaisons with an exception of one Conference, which seemed to have progressed so much and was actually even producing very good reports to the Episcopal.

The District has identified the following three major issues as leading thread to Women and Children common in all the 5 Conferences comprising the District,

1)  Gender based violence, and

2)  Human Trafficking

3)  Good Health

Achievements

The District continues to present Human Trafficking and GBV awareness workshops in all the general members meetings at Local, Area, Conference and Episcopal levels;

  • The District NGO continues to attend the Connectional NGO monthly meeting as much as possible despite the time difference challenges which sometimes make it impossible to join the meeting;
  • Attendance at the last two NGO Annual Conferences was also a deliberate effort to acclimatize the District with the NGO Liaison work;
  • The District is working hard to be in a good place to be able to support the work of the NGO Liaison and the Connectional NGO Liaison and the rest of NGO Liaisons family who are always willing to assist.

We thank God for the leadership of Bishop Francine Brookins, Supervisor Rev Dr Miriam J. Burnett, Episcopal WMS President and the entire District leadership, for their continued support and encouragement.

Humbly submitted by,

Ms. Teboho Mahuma
